When checking on sites linked to my blog I found a wonderful, whimsy-laden blog that provides enough links to keep me busy for a long time.

But I can't surf more of them today. Back to the pesky papers.

The pesky papers have taken to eating their own kind. They have obviously devoured the Nordic Needle order which was waiting on my fax machine when I came home this week. I can hear the conversation now. "ummm well yes I received the order but it has been lost on my desk."

I usually don't like sites that flash and twiddle and turn and blink but this fashion collection site is outstandingly elegant.

At Rockome I taught a beginning lucet braiding class with eight participants. Beginning was all I can manage until Sabrina/Robin gives me a few more lessons and I have a lot more practice. Everyone caught on quickly and we had a lot of fun. Braiding with a lucet is such a flying friendly craft these days. Nothing sharp to alarm airport security.

Our lucets came from a talented woodworker - Lynn the Weaver and they really were/are a work of art. I brought two of them home with me and at least one of them will wind up in my personal stash.

The pesky papers are more and more trouble as time goes on. I think the little scraps gained carnal knowledge of each other during the night and proliferated.... ugggghhhh

Can you tell I'd rather blog than do all the post-show work? As if the little pieces of paper weren't enough -- I barely started on them when the UPS guy showed up with the 6 boxes of stuff shipped home from Rockome. Thank heaven two of the boxes are display racks and don't even get opened from show to show.

Now to empty the merchandise boxes, sort them out, fill orders that came in while we were on the road and get a box of goodies ready to take to KC in a week so I can tempt the folks taking a goldwork class.

After any show, teaching event, etc. I face the dreaded mound of "little pieces of paper". All those bits of gasoline receipts, meal expenses, airline tickets, etc., etc., etc.

Not to mention the Wally World and Hobby Lobby expenses for display items (baskets, foam core board and on and on).

They all get entered in a pdf file now. I really am trying hard to be a paperless office/home business. I did indulge in a new toy after this show and Staples already dropped off a super duper shredder. If you hear grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr in the hinterlands, it's just me grinding up those little pieces of paper.

New concepts from America Worst

1. Lost baggage is a "Property Irregularity" and generates a "Property Irregularity Report"

2. A 3" x 6" x 1/2" purse counts as a "carry on item"

3. Even though airlines now refuse to feed you, your packed lunch is a "carry on item"

Lots of thoughts to catch up with after being on the road for about a month. Right now it's the ordinary tasks - the market, the bank, the pharmacy.

More later.

We're having a great time at Rockome and seeing lots of old friends as well as making new ones. Fantastic batch of students here this year.

The entries are even better than last year and I am amazed at not only the skill of stitchers but their increasing interest in venturing into new techniques or skills.

It's off to the hall to do a little booth sitting and stitching (it's pretty quiet on weekdays) and then on to class this afternoon. Evening slated to prepare for Friday's classes.

We've landed in Springfield for a few days and I'm finishing up kitting and model stitching for Rockhome. Yes designers stitch models up to the last moment.

The weather has been super and all the green is a wonderful change. I've had a little scare over my friend Nick Gosswinn who was to fly to Chicago and teach at Rockome. He became ill and is not allowed to travel so we will miss seeing him this month. He is doing well however and I'm hopeful that he will be here next year.

It's on to Rockome tomorrow and then the fun begins. Preview night is a great way to start the show. My hat is off to Charlene who manages the show. She's had her troubles this year and we are not only missing Nick but also Betsy Evans who is unable to travel as well. I know they'll be missed but I'm looking forward to a very special anniversary show this year.
